Signing Up and Getting Started
+ Creating an Account & Username
To create an SoundStorming account from the app:
Download the SoundStorming app (ICON) from the App Store (only available for iOS users) Once the app is installed, tap to open it. Tap Sign Up, at the bottom right of the screen. Enter your full name, Email and Password. Tap CONTINUE. Enter your Gender, Date of Birth and Phone number, including your country code. Tap CONTINUE. A pop up with Terms and Conditions will pop up. Read them throughtly and at the bottom, tap the circle next to I agree to terms and contidions. Then tap the Sign up Button. In the next screen enter your name, username and a short description about who you are or what you do. When finish, tap the button CREATE PROFILE.
If you sign up with email, make sure you enter your email address correctly and choose an email address that only you can access. If you log out and forget your password, you'll need to be able to access your email to get back into your SoundStorming account. Learn more about reseting your password.
Navigating the app
+ Log in Screen
The log in screen lets you create a new account or log into an existing account. You can also recover your password by tapping Forgot password? at the bottom left corner of the Log in screen when opening the app.
Keep in mind that when logging into an existing account, you must use the username and password for the account.
Home shows a feed of sound ideas posted by you and the people you follow. You can listen, like, comment and see how many collaborations each ideas has in your feed.
On (ICON) Discover you can find sound ideas that you might like from accounts you don't yet follow. You may also see curated topics we think will spark your inspiration.

+ Red button
(ICON) The record button lets you to record any musical idea, up to 1 minute, and then share them in Feed. Learn more about recording sound ideas.
(ICON) The activity tab displays likes, comments and collaborationson your own musical ideas.
(ICON) Profile shows your bio and SoundStorming posts. It's also where you can edit your profile info and adjust your Account Settings.
Finding People to Follow
+ How do I find people I know to follow on SoundStorming?
Tap on the Discover button (ICON), on the top right corner, you will see a (ICON) magnifiying glass. Tap on it and a search bar will appear. Write the name of the person you want to find and tap enter. A list of people with the same name will show. You can also use the search option to search by hashtags, i.e: blues, guitar, riff, melody... (you don't have to type #).
Note: You can search people by their name or username. Learn more about finding people to follow.
+ How do I find a specific song idea or artist I already follow??
Tap on the (ICON) Home button , on the top right corner, you will see a (ICON) magnifiying glass. Tap on it and a search bar will appear. Write the name of the person or username you want to find and tap enter. A list with matching names will show. You can also use the search option to search song ideas by name or hashtags, i.e: blues, guitar, riff, melody... (you don't have to type #)
+ How do I find people I might like to follow?
You can find people you might like to follow in Discover (ICON). Tap at the bottom of the screen to go to Discover. Scroll down to explore sound ideas you might like from accounts you're not already following. Tap the (ICON) magnifying glassat the top right to search for people, hashtags, places and genres that interest you.
Managing Your Followers
+ How can I follow or unfollow someone?
Go to the profile of the person you'd like to follow or unfollow. Tap on the Follow button and the button will say Following instead of Follow. The button will turn yellow and you will automatically start following that user. All his or her activity will now appear in your Home tab. If you want to unfollow someone, tap on Following and the button will say Follow instead of Following and will turn white. People won't be notified when you unfollow them.
Note: You can also Follow/Unfollow from your Following list in your Profile page.
+ Can I set my profile to private?**
By default, all profiles are set to public. However, you can choose which sound ideas are public or private by just tapping on the (ICON) public/private button. Learn more about making soung ideas public or private.
+ How do I set my ideas to private?
After recording, you will be offered to options: Public or Private. If you make them private only you will see the song ideas in your profile page. If you choose public, the audio will be appear in the Feed and will be visible to the public.
+ I made a sound public but now I want to make it private. How can I change it?
Go to your profile page. There you will see the list of sound ideas, each one with toggle button underneath (ICON). When you see the (ICON) radio icon it means the audio is public. If you see the (ICON) lock, it means the idea is private. Tap on the toggle button to change its status.
Recording and Posting Ideas
+ How do I record a sound idea?
Tap on the record button (ICON). A new screen will pop up with a countdown of 3 seconds, then, you can start recording.
+ How do I stop recording?
To stop recording press the (ICON) Stop button and a new screen will appear. Tap on Cancel at the bottom. Note: You can't stop the recording while the countdown.
+ How many seconds of video can I record?
Your song idea can be up to 60 seconds long.
+ How do I post a sound idea?
To record and post a new one, first tap the Record button (ICON) at the bottom of the screen to start recording. After 60 seconds, you will be taken to the next step where you can add a Tittle to the idea, Caption and add some hashtags. You can use the suggested hashtags or type the ones you want. Then choose if you want your idea to be Public or Private and tap Submit. Note: if you are done recording before 60 seconds, tap the Stop button to go to the next step.
+ Can I listen what I just recorded before posting?
Yes, you can. After recording, you are taken to the next screen where you can see your sound wave. Tap the (ICON) Play button on the right to listen your recording.
Tip: you can drag the progress bar to the left or right to listen to a specific moment in the sound wave.
+ How do I add a photo to my sound idea?
Once you finish recording your song idea, you will be taken to the next screen. On the top left corner of the sound wave, tap the camera icon (ICON) to either take a photo or choose an existing one from your gallery. You will be able to retake or crop the photo.
+ Can I upload a song idea I already recorded?
You can't upload existing song ideas from your phone.
+ Why the waveform doesn't represents the soundwave?
The soundwave is static, for now. We are working on making the waveform a true representation of the soundwave so each one is unique to each audio.
Collaborating on other people's ideas
+ How can I collaborate on someone's idea?
When you tap on a song idea, the idea will expand and it will start playing. Tap the Collaboration button (ICON) next to the idea's tittle to start a collaboration.
Note: a pop up will appear asking if you want to use headphones. We strongly recommend using them as you will hear the main idea better and it will also improve the overall quality of the collaboration.
Searching, Editing & Deleting Ideas
+ How can I search a specific song idea I recorded?
In your Profile (ICON) tap on the (ICON) magnifying glass to type the name of the idea you are searching for. You can also search by hashtags.
+ Can I delete a song idea from my profile?
You can't delete your song ideas once they have been published. However, you can switch them to private. We are working on adding this functionality. Learn more about making soung ideas public or private.
+ How do I add, edit or delete the caption of an existing audio?
Once the idea is published you can't make any changes. However, we are working on adding this functionality as soon as possible.
Sharing to Other Social Networks
+ How can I share my ideas to other Social Networks?
At this time you can't share any ideas to other Social Networks. This functionality will be added in the future.
Tagging & Mentions
+ How do I tag people in my song idea?
At this time you can't tag people on a song idea. This feature is schedule for future versions.
Edit your profile
+ How do I update profile information like my name, username and email?
You may need to log into your account before you're able to update your profile information. Learn what you can do if you forgot your password or can't log in to your account. To update your profile information, including your username and email address associated with your account:
Go to your Profile (ICON). Edit Profile. Type in your information and tap Save in the top right.
+ How do I add a profile picture or change my current picture?
To add or change your profile picture:
- Go to your Profile (ICON).
- Tap Edit Profile > Change Profile Photo
- Select where you'd like to import your picture from.
- Tap Save
You can take a new photo, add a photo from your phone's photo library or delete your current photo.
+ How do I add a bio or a website to my profile?
"You can write a bio of up to 150 characters on your profile. Please keep in mind that anyone can see your bio.
To edit your bio:
- Go to your (ICON) Profile
- Tap Edit Profile at the top of the screen
- Write your bio in the Description box and add a shorten URL to your website
- Tap Save
+ How do I change my password?
If you're logged out of your account and can't remember your password, you can request to reset it from the login screen.
If you're able to log into your account and know your current password, you can change it from your Settings:
- Go to your (ICON) Profile
- Tap (ICON) Settings in the top right
- Under Settings > Change Password
- Enter your current password and then enter your new password
- Tap Save in the top right
Tip: To create a strong password, use a combination of at least six numbers, letters and punctuation marks (like ! and %).
+ Where are my account settings?
To get to your account settings:
Go to your (ICON) Profile Tap (ICON) Settings in the top right. From there you can:
- Report a problem: report a bug or provide feedback
- Change your password
- Adjust your push notifications
- Log out
+ How do I log out from SoundStorming?
You can log out by going to your Profile (ICON) > Settings (ICON) > Log out
Controlling your Activity
+ Who can like or comment on my song ideas?
If your idea is public, anyone can like, comment and collaborate on your idea. If you want to prevent people from liking, commenting or collaborating on your idea, you can set that specific idea to private.
+ How can I see who's following me?
Go to your profile page and tap on Fans to see who's following you. Here you can also Follow and Unfollow other users.
Note: to see who are you following, just tap on Following in your profile page, next to Fans.
+ How do I delete a comment or a collaboration?
At this time you can't delete comments or collaborations on your ideas but it's in our top priority list to add this functionality as soon as possible.
+ Where can I see who has liked, commented or collaborated on my idea?
Tap (ICON) to go to your Activity page. There you will see who has like your ideas, comments and who has collaborated on your ideas.
+ Can I hide my bio or my profile image?
If you don't want people to see this info, we'd suggest removing it from your profile.
+ How can I report a bug?
Go to Profile > (ICON) Settings > Report a problem > Something isn't working (please try to be as specific as possible)
+ I have some ideas/feedback for the app, how can I share them?
Please, share them with us! Go to Profile > (ICON) Settings > Report a problem > General Feedback
