You can log out by going to your profile Profile > settings Settings > Log out

Navigating the app

The Log In screen lets you create a new account or log into an existing account. You can also recover your password by tapping Forgot password? at the bottom left corner of the Log in screen when opening the app.

Keep in mind that when logging into an existing account, you must use the username and password for the account.

homeHome shows a feed of sound ideas posted by you and the people you follow. You can listen, like, comment, and see how many collaborations each idea has in your feed.

On discover Discover you can find sound ideas that you might like from accounts you don’t yet follow. You may also see curated topics we think will spark your inspiration.

record buttonThe Record Button lets you to record any musical idea, up to 1 minute, and then share them in Feed.

activity The Activity Tab displays likes, comments, and collaborations on your own musical ideas.

profile Profile shows your bio and SoundStorming posts. It’s also where you can edit your profile info and adjust your Account Settings.

Finding People to Follow

Tap on the discover Discover button, on the top right corner, you will see a magnifying glass magnifiying glass. Tap on it and a search bar will appear. Write the name of the person you want to find and tap enter. A list of people with the same name will show. You can also use the search option to search by hashtags, i.e: blues, guitar, riff, melody… (you don’t have to type #).

Note: You can search people by their name or username.

Tap on the home Home button , on the top right corner, you will see a (ICON) magnifiying glass. Tap on it and a search bar will appear. Write the name of the person or username you want to find and tap Enter. A list with matching names will show. You can also use the search option to search song ideas by name or hashtags, i.e: blues, guitar, riff, melody… (you don’t have to type #)

You can find people you might like to follow in discover Discover. Tap at the bottom of the screen to go to Discover. Scroll down to explore sound ideas you might like from accounts you’re not already following. Tap the magnifying glass magnifying glassat the top right to search for people, hashtags, places and genres that interest you.

Managing Your Followers

Go to the profile of the person you’d like to follow or unfollow.
Tap on the Follow button and the button will say Following instead of Follow. The button will turn yellow and you will automatically start following that user. All his or her activity will now appear in your Home tab. If you want to unfollow someone, tap on Following and the button will say Follow instead of Following and will turn white. People won’t be notified when you unfollow them.

Note: You can also Follow/Unfollow from your Following list in your Profile page.

To block someone:

Tap their username to go to their profile.
Tap the 3 dots “…” in the top right of the screen.
Tap Block User.
People aren’t notified when you block them.

Note: After you block someone all the song ideas will disappear from your feed. This action cannot be reversed.

Managing your Ideas

After recording, you will be offered two options: Public or Private. If you make them private only you will see the song ideas in your profile page. If you choose public, the audio will be appear in the Feed and will be visible to the public.

Go to your profile Profile page. There you will see the list of sound ideas, each one with Toggle button underneath private toggle. When you see the radio radio icon it means the audio is public. If you see the radio lock, it means the idea is private. Tap on the Toggle button to change its status.

Recording and Posting Ideas

Tap on the record button Record button. A new screen will pop up with a countdown of 3 seconds, and then you can start recording.

To stop recording press the stop Stop button and a new screen will appear. Tap on Cancel at the bottom.
Note: You can’t stop the recording while the countdown.

Your song idea can be up to 60 seconds long.

To record and post a new one, first tap the record button Record button at the bottom of the screen to start recording. After 60 seconds, you will be taken to the next step where you can add a Title to the idea, Caption, and add some Hashtags. You can use the suggested hashtags or type the ones you want. Then choose if you want your idea to be Public or Private and tap Submit.
Note: if you are done recording before 60 seconds, tap the Stop button to go to the next step.

Yes, you can. After recording, you are taken to the next screen where you can see your sound wave. Tap the play Play button on the right to listen your recording.

Tip: you can drag the progress bar to the left or right to listen to a specific moment in the sound wave.

Once you finish recording your song idea, you will be taken to the next screen. On the top left corner of the sound wave, tap the play Camera icon to either take a photo or choose an existing one from your gallery. You will be able to retake or crop the photo.

You can’t upload existing song ideas from your phone.

The soundwave is static, for now. We are working on making the waveform a true representation of the soundwave so each one is unique to each audio.

Collaborating on other people's ideas

When you tap on a song idea, the idea will expand and it will start playing. Tap the collaborate Collaboration button next to the idea’s tittle to start a collaboration.

Note: a pop up will appear asking if you want to use headphones. We strongly recommend using them as you will hear the main idea better and it will also improve the overall quality of the collaboration.

Searching, Editing & Deleting Ideas

In your profile Profile tap on the magnifying glass magnifying glass to type the name of the idea you are searching for. You can also search by hashtags.

You can’t delete your song ideas once they have been published. However, you can switch them to private. We are working on adding this functionality.

Once the idea is published you can’t make any changes. However, we are working on adding this functionality as soon as possible.

Sharing to Other Social Networks

At this time you can’t share any ideas to other Social Networks. This functionality will be added in the future.

Tagging & Mentions

At this time you can’t tag people on a song idea. This feature is schedule for future versions.

Edit your profile

You may need to log into your account before you’re able to update your profile information. Learn what you can do if you forgot your password or can’t log in to your account.
To update your profile information, including your username and email address associated with your account:


Go to your profile Profile > Edit Profile
Type in your information and tap Save in the top right.

If you don’t want people to see this info, we suggest removing it from your profile.

You can write a bio of up to 150 characters on your profile. Please keep in mind that anyone can see your bio.

To edit your bio:

Go to your profile Profile
Tap Edit Profile at the top of the screen
Write your bio in the Description box and add a shorten URL to your website
Tap Save

If you’re logged out of your account and can’t remember your password, you can request to reset it from the login screen.

If you’re able to log into your account and know your current password, you can change it from your Settings:

Go to your profile Profile
Tap settings Settings in the top right
Under Settings > Change Password
Enter your current password and then enter your new password
Tap Save in the top right
Tip: To create a strong password, use a combination of at least six numbers, letters and punctuation marks (like ! and %).

To get to your account settings:

Go to your profile Profile
Tap settings Settings in the top right.
From there you can:
-Report a problem: report a bug or provide feedback
-Read again the Privacy Policy, Terms and Conditions and Submission License agreements
-Change your password
-Adjust your push notifications
-Log out

You can log out by going to your Profile profile > Settings settings > Log out

Controlling your Activity

If your idea is public, anyone can like, comment and collaborate on your idea. If you want to prevent people from liking, commenting, or collaborating on your idea, you can set that specific idea to private,

Go to your profile page and tap on Fans to see who’s following you. Here you can also Follow and Unfollow other users.

Note: to see who are you following, just tap on Following in your profile page, next to Fans.

At this time you can’t delete comments or collaborations on your ideas but it’s in our top priority list to add this functionality as soon as possible.

Tap activity to go to your Activity page. There you will see who has like your ideas, comments and who has collaborated on your ideas.

If you don’t want people to see this info, we suggest removing it from your profile.

Controlling your Visability

By default, all profiles are set to public. However, you can choose which sound ideas are public or private by just tapping on the private toggle Public/Private button.

Troubleshooting

If when trying to upload a photo your camera isn’t working, make sure that in your Privacy settings, you have allowed SoundStorming app to access to your camera. On your iPhone, go to Settings >Privacy > Camera > SoundStorming – turn the toggle button On and try again.

Make sure that in your Privacy Settings you have allowed SoundStorming app to access to your microphone. On your iPhone, go to Settings – Privacy – Microphone – SoundStorming – turn the toggle button ON and try again.

Recording a collaboration using wireless headphones, the sound will be recorded with a slight delay over the main idea, due to the nature of the bluetooth.
That’s why we strongly recommend use headphones that are directly connected to the phone.

Contact Support

Go to Profile > settings Settings > Report a problem > Something isn’t working (please try to be as specific as possible).

We ask that all people follow our Terms of Service and Submission License guidelines. If you encounter someone on SoundStorming who’s not following these guidelines, you can report that person’s song idea directly from SoundStorming.
People can report abusive behavior or song ideas with our built-in reporting. This includes copyright infringement, verbal abuse and excessive spam. Reporting is totally anonymous. No information about the reporter is sent to the person whose account or song idea has been reported.

To report a song idea: tap the 3 dots “…” underneath the song idea you’d like to report and then tap Report Content.
